Julia Munsey of Oxford Networks to be Honored by Girl Scouts of Maine

Girl Scouts of Maine will honor Julia Munsey with the 2013 Juliette Award at the annual Pearls of Wisdom breakfast on September 18, 2013 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bangor. Girl Scouts of Maine established the Juliette Award to honor a woman who embodies the essence of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA. Juliette Gordon Low was a woman who exemplified a heightened sense of service to community and the country, exhibited determination to succeed, and advanced Girl Scout principles by advocating for leadership in girls.

“Julia Munsey’s strength of character and dedication to community service make her an inspirational leader,” said Joan McDonald, CEO, Girl Scouts of Maine. “She is an exemplary role model for girls and we are proud to honor her for her extensive achievements, as well as her dedication to fostering self-confidence and leadership skills in others.”

Julia Munsey serves as the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for Oxford Networks, a Maine based technology company. In her role, Munsey oversees an in-house marketing team charged with all facets of Oxford Networks marketing, sales and public relations materials. She has been with the company since 2007. Prior to joining Oxford Networks, Munsey served as Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for Collabric, a Maine based tensioned fabric structure company specializing in the international tradeshow industry.

Munsey is a graduate of the University of Maine, with a degree in Communication and a concentration in Public Relations. She has earned the national Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America. In addition to her professional achievements, Munsey is an active community volunteer. Following her parents example, Munsey started volunteering at a young age. Most recently, she has served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, Board Member and Development Committee Chair for the American Folk Festival, Board Chair for the Maine State YMCA Camp, and was an integral part of the leadership for the successful Arena Yes campaign in Bangor. Munsey lives in Bangor with her partner John Dougherty and their playful black lab Jameson.
